Can you believe it?

So it's been awhile since I've been out to Frankie's in Naperville, but becuse I didn't have to work on Thursday I made the trip out to see some old friends and support the suburban dance scene.

Here's where the weirdness starts. After drinking about half of my first beer, I set it down on a table so I could dance. While dancing I witnessed a dancer ,who I've seen at many events in both the city and suburbs, accidentally knock over my drink on the table. He looked around and walked away, leaving the bottle on the floor and making no effort to see if he could apologize for the accident. Because I didn't want to interrupt my dance, and becuase the drink was less than half full, I made no big deal of this. In fact, Carl bought me a new drink.

Later that night, I had just set down a brand new beer on the bar rail near the dance floor. The crowd had pretty much thinned out at this point, and I was going to dance another song. While I was dancing an older guy (who seemed to be affiliated with the band, because he helped them carry out some equipment) accidentally knocked over my full beer. The God's of gravity were just not on my side. He looked around to see if anyone was watching, and started to leave the scene (puddle of beer and bottle on the floor). I politely tapped him on the shoulder and informed him that it was my drink that he had just knocked over.

The conversation went a little something like this.....

Me: "Excuse me, that was my drink."
Him: "So."
Me: "It was brand new and full. Are you going to apologize or buy me another one."
Him: laughing "No!"
Me: "No?"
Him: smugly "No, why did you put your drink there in the first place?"
Me: annoyed "Because it's a bar A**h*le."
Him: like a tough guy "What did you say?"
Me: "I called you an A**sh*le because you are making no effort to apologize for what you did."

So after getting in my face and pretending to be a tough guy. He turned at sat back down at the table he was sitting at. I quickly thought of many things I wanted to do, like walk over and spill his drink, etc... but decided that it wasn't worth the consequence of making a scene in the bar, and risking my ability to attend dances there.

I informed the management of the spill on the floor, and they graciously replaced my drink free of charge. I'd like to thank Frankie's management for the gesture.

But the question that begs to be answered is this... Am I wrong for asking the guy to replace my drink???? I've knocked over my fair share of other people's drinks, and know that I quickly apologize and offer up a replacement for them. It really burned me that this guy didn't care at all.

Just askin'

So much going on!!!!

So much has been going on that I haven't been able to post in awhile. I'll start with work. It's been pretty busy. Mostly the same old stuff (ice cream, pizza, other random assorted foods), but recently I've had some change of pace. I was asked to work on a couple of celebrity shoots (Terri Clark and Kirk Hinrich), but unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts I had to pass the jobs up. It's good to know that I'm in the circle of people working on these types of gigs. I did however, work on a photo shoot shooting Dick Portillo's house. He's the dude who owns Portillo's Hot Dogs. This guy has an amazing house with an astounding art collection, but I'm not supposed to talk about it, so I'm not going to. :)

As some of you may know, I played on a kickball team this past summer. Yes, kickball. The sport we've all played on middle school playgrounds. It was a blast. The team I played for started out rockin', but then bit the big one by the end of the season. I did get the honors of making the All Star team and will play in that game next weekend.

I'm in the midst of planning my Halloween / Birthday party too. Check out the E-vite if you'd like to attend. It's going to be a blast. I've got an 80's party DJ and all sorts of cool games lined up. Hopefully my special order costume shows up in time!!!!

I've also been camping, and have been watching a lot of TV. I threw out my back and went to see Shaun of the Dead. It was a hilarious movie with lots of cool gore stuff. I totally recommend it.

Nothing too exciting.

Well, there hasn't been all that much excitment lately. I've been staying busy with work and that's about it. I've posted on craigslist to try and get some headshot work, and the initial response was good. I'm hoing to keep the post going so that I can generate some steady income from head shots. That would allow me to stop assisting so much and be able to focus more on my own work. Fingers are crossed!

So it's been a month.

Well, in case you haven't guessed, I've been pretty busy lately. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to updating my journal in close to a month. Although, because I'm psycho and love Spider-Man, I had to completely re-do my whole friggin' website to reflect those qualities.

Things have been good overall. Work has been busy and seems as though it will be through August. I've also been teaching a huge amount of "wedding dance" private lessons to couples who are getting married this summer. My favorite is when they come in the weekend before their wedding, have never danced before and expect that I'm going to turn them into Ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire. Yeah, you wish.

I finally got a kitchen table and chairs too.

What a difference it makes in the kitchen!!!

I'm also looking into getting a new car. Not new, new, but new to me. If I get the one I'm looking at, it's going to be super sweet. I'm not got to post any pics until I'm certain.

So all i have to say is that Spider-man 2 rules. I've seen it twice so far, and can't wait to see it again. It has action, comedy, romance, and drama. Bad ass special effects don't hurt either.

If you can't get to the theater to see it, check out this lego madness summary!

Update from SF

After too much party party, last night Brian and I took it easy here in San Francisco. We went and had a kick ass dinner and then just went home to his place and watched old school. We went to bed early and then woke up today and headed out to Oakland to watch the SF Giants / Oakland A's game. It was a fun time. Tonight we're going for dinner and some Jazz.

Having fun in San Francisco

It's Saturday morning, and the weather here in SF has made a chnage for the warmer. I'm glad the temperature's up a little, because today we're headed to wine country to do some tasting and take some pictures.

Last night was a lot of fun too. Brian and I went to a club to meet some of his friends, continue our drinking, and do some dancing. Nora met us there and drove our asses home. I think I remember Brian and I doing some ultra cool stunts while walking from the car to the house. I seem to remember some Dukes of Hazard style sliding on cars and stuff. I may have also done some kind of cool somersault roll, but it was while going up one of these mega steep SF hills, so I didn't do very well.

Cold Chillin' in San Francisco

Seriously...It's friggin' cold here. The daytime isn't so bad, with temperatures in the low 70's and the sun shinning, but at night you can practically see your breath. Cold or not, San Francisco is a beautiful place. I'm definitely excited about me 5 day stay here. I think I'm going to go to some cool national parks this afternoon, Winery tours on Saturday, and maybe catch a baseball game on Sunday. Man, vacation can be busy!

Once I return home though, I get to see Spider-man 2 and then it's back to work!!!!!! Man will that ever suck. :(

...and finally, a real post.

So I figured that since I actually had a moment to type, I would make a real post updating you all on the goings on in my so called life. Photography work has been pretty steady lately, but I've been bombarded with an insane amount of dance lessons. Right now I'm teaching 3 classes at Big City Swing in addition to 6 to 8 private lessons a week teaching couples to dance for their weddings. These aren't the most fun classes to teach, but they prove to be very helpful to my income. ;)

In other news, the marigolds in our garden have all bloomed to enormous sizes and look beautiful! We've also added a corner planter and some new chairs to the back porch garden which should hopefully mean that we don't have to buy anything else for it. The real kicker was when Jeni and I went to Target to pick up a few things (the Target effect defintely kicked in) and we saw EVERY SINGLE DAMN THING that we had already purchased for the garden on clearance for 30% off. BASTARDS! But at least we hadn't picked up the three most expensive items we were considering buying, so it was as good aas time as any to buy them. Tomorrow they'll probably be 50% off.

The thing I'm most excited about at this point is that last night I put in my order for my custom fitted, movie replica, Spider-man suit. Ever since I was a little kid, I've been in love with Spider-man . I even used to say that when I grew up I wanted to be Spider-man. So I figured that since this year marks my 30th birthday and since my birthday is the day after Halloween, I'm planning a 30th birthday costume party which I will attend as Spider-Man. Check out the suit here. I will also be posting pictures of my suit in progress as I get them from the costume maker. Man is this going to be SWEET!

The last couple of days have been really great. Yesterday, Jeni and I made a couple of more additions to our garden. We got a little metal bird tom mount on the railing, a mosquito lantern, a candle, and little lantern lights to hang. I'll be hanging those today.

We met mugsy yesterday as well to go see The Day After Tomorrow. It was pretty good.
Feelin' Good.

It's amazing what a little sunshine and warm weather can do. I feel really good today! The rain has finally stopped and it is beautiful outside. I took a nice walk this morning to the bank and stopped in at a diner to grab some breakfast. Two eggs over easy with hash browns and bacon. MMMMMMM bacon. Coffee and chocolate milk to wash it down.

I think i'm going to work on the photo album section a little bit today as well as do some laundry and clean up around the house. I haven't worked much the past two weeks, but I'm not freaking out about it yet. I'll give it a few more days before I start actively searching for new gigs. Until then, I'm just going to keep finishing up some started projects.

Man is this weather getting to me. I really can't stand it any more. It's rain followed by more rain, with an intermittent bout of sunshine every once in awhile. It's getting old. I want it to be sunny and nice.

However, last night rocked. We had an outdoor BBQ (in the rain) and Tracy's to celebrate her birthday. It was good times. I ate somewhere around 4 cheeseburgers and a bag of chips while washing it down with the ever so awesome cold ones. We even had glow in the dark popsicles!!! Tracy got hammered and spilled her beer in my lap and then threw potato chips at me. PIctures coming soon in the photo gallery section.

It's Saturday morning, and how I would love to be out on my back porch sipping coffee and looking at my cool flowers that I planted. Soakin' in some sun rays, and feelin good. Instead I feel crappy because our weather has been doing nothing but sucking lately! Rain, Rain, Rain, Cold, Cold, More Rain! Anyway, I have to teach a few dance lessons today and am probably going to see Shrek 2 tonight.

I rented Down With Love last night on DVD and it was pretty cool.
Taking Shape

Finally, the new website is starting to take shape. I know that a lot of the links and such still are not working, but that will all be taken care of soon. I'm liking the live journal aspect of the site. I'm still not 100% comfortable with customizing it, but I'm sure that will change with time. If there is a will there is a way. Unfortunately, my web programming skills are not superb, so it makes for some time consuming efforts to get things the way I want them.

Some of the things to hopefully look forward to on the site are a photo album section as well as the potential for a "House of Lippy" cartoon. We'll see how it all comes together!

What's new with what's going on.

For those of you who have made a visit to this little place on the internet, you may have noticed something lately. This site is very old and has not been updated in a long time. There are reasons for this, I promise. I've been particularly busy with work lately and have been unable to update my site in a way that takes little time. Enter "live journal". Part of what I've always wanted to do with my website is to make frequent updates to keep people up to date with happenings in my life. Problem was, the way that my sites have been set up made those updates more time consuming than I would have liked.

My hope is that now with my new journal account, I can keep people posted with things that are happening. Soooooooooo, that's it. For now, I'll just have the standard live journal as my homepage while I'm working on a new design for the overall site. I'd like to integrate part of live journal into the site so things fit a little more smoothly. We'll see how it goes!
